Join in the Shannon Miller Foundation Weekend of Racing

The Shannon Miller Foundation is sponsoring “Weekend of Racing”, on Saturday and Sunday, September 22 and 23, 2012 in Nocatee and Jacksonville.
This bicycle racing event (formerly known as the Great Nocatee Stage Race) is sanctioned by both the Florida Road Cycling Association and USA Cycling, and is known for providing a great cycling experience for all ages and levels of competitors.
Weekend of Racing offers categories for licensed USAC racers as well as a special Fun Ride, just for kids!
About The Shannon Miller Foundation: Launched in 2007, The Shannon Miller Foundation is dedicated to fighting childhood obesity. Today, an estimated one third of all children in the United States are overweight, while the occurrence of obesity has more than quadrupled in the last 25 years. This epidemic leads to life-threatening issues such as heart disease, asthma, hypertension and type II diabetes. Shannon works to make a positive impact on children’s health, through education and awareness of the health risks associated with this disease. Saturday‘s race will be held in the Community of Nocatee (just minutes from Ponte Vedra Beach) for a beautiful Road Race Course followed by a fast and challenging Time Trial.
The Sunday race will be a Criterium in downtown Jacksonville, which offers easy, wide corners and plenty of open areas so that fans and supporters can watch the action.
And don’t forget – on Sunday, there will be a the SPECIAL event for the Kids: All kids are welcome to participate in the Shannon Miller Foundation Kids Bike Race, in Downtown Jacksonville.
- Helmets will required for all participants during this Fun Ride, and the kids will be accompanied by members the VeloBrew Racing Squad.
