Shannon, You are beautiful inside as well as out. I am sorry for what you are going through right now. Continue being strong and keeping the faith! When God brings you to it, he will always bring you through it.
I know it has taken you a lot of courage to not only go through the chemo process but to go public with it must have been your hardest hurdle to overcome. This in itself shows America who the real Shannon Miller is because you are not benefiting from this you are helping many woman.
“Fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
—Isaiah 41:10″
You are a blessing and an inspiration to many of us. I met you a few years ago and wish that I would have gotten the opportunity to spend some more time with you (I worked for your husbands company and just met you in passing)
Thank you and if there is anything that I could do to help, please know that I will do it.
Please know that I will pray for you and your family for a quick recovery.
Sincerely,
Annemarie May -

Hi Shannon – I’ve been following your journey and know what you are going through. Last year I went through chemo and radiation for breast cancer. A dear friend shared this with me when I had my head shaved. It made me smile and I hope it will do the same for you:
There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.
Well,” she said, “I think I’ll braid my hair today.” So she did and she had a wonderful day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head. “H-M-M,” she said, “I think I’ll part my hair down the middle today.” So she did and she had a grand day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head. “Well,” she said, “today I’m going to wear my hair in a pony tail.” So she did and she had a fun, fun day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn’t a single hair on her head. “YEA!” she exclaimed, “I don’t have to fix my hair today!”
Keep up your positive attitude!

Shannon,
You are such an amazingly courageous person! I admire you so much for your willingness to share your journey in order to help others. I always looked up to you for your gymnastics abilities, but now I look up to you even more as I watch you fight this battle with such dignity and grace. I once heard a saying that I wrote down because it inspired me, and I feel that it applies perfectly to you:“What might be our purpose in life? To share God’s blessings…God has blessed us all in different ways. Take what God has blessed you with and try to find a way to share it with and help others. There is no better feeling than you made a difference somehow in someone else’s life.”
While God has given you a rough battle to face, you have chosen to use your qualities of inner strength and genuine care for others in order to stand up and make a difference, and give others the inspiration and courage they need. I am not even in your situation; yet have been extremely touched as I follow your journey. You are beautiful person both inside (where it counts the most) as well as outside (your wigs look AWESOME)!
Thank you for all you are doing. -

Shannon,
I saw you on one of the morning show interviews and went to your website. I feel connected to you, I am a cancer survivor. I HAD Non Hodgkins Lymphoma and celebrated my 3 year remission anniversary March 2011. I watched your video about the wig selecting/shaving your head. It took me back to when I went to a salon and the owner of the salon shaved my head, gave me new make up (program called beautiful you that is donated to cancer survivors at most cancer centers) and she gave me a wig. People are so compassionate and kind. I felt everything you are/were feeling when you were losing your hair. After chemo/radiation you might want to take a supplement called Biotin 5,000mcg. It made my hair, eyelashes, nails grow in fast and strong. You have such a strength about you and thats what makes a survivor. When you are all done with your treatments, you will be there to inspire and encourage others. I am an IV nurse in Michigan and have found my special bond with the oncology patients. I will keep you in my prayers. Allow yourself days to just take care of you and pace yourself. Listen to your body, it will talk to you. You are blessed to have such a strong support system. Cancer takes us on a roller coaster of emotions, keep talking and doing your journal. Your audience is here for you. CANCER SUCKS!!!! Lets have an online party when you are done with your treatments. Wouldn’t that be fun. Love and blessings from me to you.Cindy

Shannon, that video brought me to tears.
I dried them quickly when I thought of how your strength & dignity make this a learning experience for all women, just like your beam clinics have taught many young gymnasts.
Thank you for sharing this personal journey with us. Personally, I hate “the ladies’ yearly exam”, but now I will not postpone it. You have shown me that it’s too important not to.

Wow, Thank you all for those incredible remarks. We are all in this together. I remind myself to be thankful for such an early diagnosis. And hopeful that going through this challenging time will inspire other’s to look past the embarrassment of the “women’s exam” and get over the “I just don’t have time” for that appointment. Because honestly you just don’t have time for cancer. Catch it early and stop it in it’s tracks! Show no mercy!!! Love you all!
